First Camping Trip

HIGH CREEK - 1st Camping Trip

Finally we got the Trailer out and went camping this last weekend.. Shayne and I decided earlier in the week that we should go camping so we got the Trailer out on Monday, gave it a thorough cleaning and took it up to High Creek on Wednesday Night after I got home from work to secure a spot.

Wednesday Night - July 8

We took the trailer up to get us our spot and on the way back down I saw this Blow Snake laying in the road. So as you know I can't just let it lay there I had to stop and get out and catch it. If I was to guess it was between 4 1/2 and 5 feet long. At first when I picked it up it coiled up into a ball and lunged at me a bit. Then it was getting ready to do it again when Shayne took this picture. I ended up seeing 2 more over the next 4 days, smaller though, about the same area. Awesome....

Being a bit aggressive in this picture...

Mellowed out here...

Friday - July 10

When we got to the Trailer House on Friday Night we set everything up and Shayne let the dogs loose to swim a bit. Then he built a fire and I cooked Tin Foil Dinners. While I was fixing them Shayne took the Black truck back down home to get a few things that we forgot. When he came back he was stopped down the road by a man and woman that had ran there Dodge Ram into the irregation canal and was totally high centered and stuck. He told them that he would go up the road and get me and we would be back. So we went down and pulled them out, it was one of those moments that you see on the commercials about Ford Tough...Ford pulling Dodge out...cool...It was also a proud moment because the guy thanked Shayne and told him that he was a man of his word, most people wouldn't have came back he said..

Here Bear is swimming in the creek....

Shayne and Bear are sitting around the campfire enjoying the peace and quiet...

Another view of Shayne and his dog...

Saturday - July 11

On Saturday Morning here is Shayne poking his head out of the trailer, I have been up and got breakfast cooking on the grill beside the trailer.

We ate like kings while we were camping, this morning we had Pancakes, Bacon, and Sausage with Milk to drink. When its up in the mountains it even tastes better..

This is a picture of our campsite. We had it all to ourselves that way the dogs could run free and enjoy some time from captivity.

Bear swimming in the creek retrieving the pheasant dummy. Both her and Bridget spent a lot of time swimming this weekend..it was awesome..

Bear bringing the dummy back to Shayne

Bear dropping it at Shaynes feet....

Shayne just threw a rock in the water just behind Bear and she went and stuck her head under water to retrieve it for him.

Bear bringing back the rock... What a stupid dog.... Not really she is pretty dang smart...

Its noon now and Shayne got hungry so he is roasting him a Hot Dog....

Perfection as he said, cooked but no burnt spots....

Relaxing in the shade petting Bridget after he ate his Hot Dog for lunch...

Here I am relaxing in the shade of the trailer with Bear by my side...

Bridget got tired so she went and layed in her kennel for some quiet time...

Supper time, the time we have been waiting for....Dutch Oven Chicken and Cheesy Dutch Oven Potatoes.... hmmm hmmm good....

Here Shayne is enjoying the final product.....

Our Night time fire once again....

Shayne and Bear enjoying the crackle of the camp fire!!

Here Shayne is having a night time snack of Milk and Chocolate Chip cookies, after we finished our nightly game of UNO....Of course I am still the champion....

Sunday Morning - July 12

More Food...It seems like thats all we did was eat and rest.... Thats the life!!

The final result of Sunday morning breakfast which consisted of: Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, and Hashbrowns with melted cheese, all peppered to perfection... dang that was good...

This is a couple of pictures of the stream by the trailer.. This is what I call Solitude..

We had a great weekend and took the trailer home, cleaned it up and put it away until next time... FUN TIMES!!!!

Fourth of July 2009

Fourth of July 2009 Celebration !!!

It is July 3rd 2009 and here we are at the Logan Fireworks show. Sitting around waiting for it to get dark. We are East of the Hospital on the grass. Me, Kalee, Shayne, Chett, Chalis, Colby, Richard, Megan, Trey and Jack... The whole Fam Damily!!! We just sat and visited. Chalis and Trey ran around like wild Indians, they had a great time.

Kalee finally got to hold Jack without him crying... It helped to teach him how to drink a little Coke from the straw. A little short snort never hurt anyone... Yes of course Megan was giving me the evil eye while we were doing it. It was all Kalee's fault....I tried to stop her but I couldn't..honest Meg. hahaha

Here are a couple fireworks from the big show, didn't take many pictures just watched them.

================================================

MINK CREEK CELEBRATION on the 4th !!

This is a new plague that they put at the Park with the Veterans of Mink Creek's name on it.
******

At first they had a little program and dedication for everyone to remember what the fourth is all about "Independance Day". Once the small program was over then we ate. The dinner consisted of Dutch Oven Potato's, Smoked Pork Loin, salad, rolls and a drink (I think the drink was lemon aid or something) but we had to pull out of my stash and have a Cherry Pepsi, Diet Cherry Coke etc.
******
Once everyone finished eating then the games began.. They set up a big tarp on the Hill, ran a irrigation pipe over to it and turned it on. Then kids had a blast sliding down it and then going up and doing it again. They needed to turn more water down it but..oh well I wasn't in charge..

Shayne, Chett, and Chalis waiting for their turn!!

Here Chalis is going down backwards....

Chett going sideways....

Shayne heading for the side....

Kalee is watching from the sidelines...

******
Now they have moved onto the Fish Pond.... They have set up a bunch of Straw bales around to form a square then they spread a tarp out over it and filled it up with water. Once it was full of water they put a bunch of Rainbow trout in it and turned the kids loose by age group to catch them.

Here Shayne, Chalis and Chett in the background are waiting for their turns..

Chalis is trying his luck at the big fish pond...

He caught one.. Good Job pal!!!

Now it is Chetts turn....

Here Chett shows his catch of the Day!!!

Shayne is up and giving it a try...

And he did it, after all that hard work they all came up with one.. Matter a fact they caught about 6 or so. Then we took them back to Kalee's and the boys cleaned them and I cooked them on the grill so they could taste their success. Kalee wouldn't even try it, all she did was turn her nose up... Now wait a minute she may have had a tiny spec.. I can't remember, not enough to count though....

Kalee is standing in the back ground watching, drinking her Diet Cherry Coke and visiting with the Park Ranger as she calls him...

******
We went back up to Kalee's and had dinner, and waited for it to get dark... In the mean time Shayne, Chett and Chalis blew up thinks with there man made firework experiments. They stuck a Pick-a-lo pete after it was rapped in duct tape in side a fish and lit it to see what it would do. It blew it to pieces.... I am sorry for giving them the idea..

Chett lighting some of his firework fountains.

Shayne just lit a Pick-a-lo Pete in side a bottle, here he is running so he don't get blown up!!

Kalee and Chalis posing for a picture, what a ham!!!

Kalee and I....

More Fountains....

The Last of the Fireworks...

We had a great fourth of July, spending time together. It was fun and eventful!!
Thanks Kalee, Chett and Chalis for having Shayne and myself up to enjoy the Fourth with you!!!
